Taken on 9/10/11 this male goldfinch is at the height of his color. They usually turn from an olive color gradually to bright yellow starting in April. They nest late when the seed supply is plentiful. Therefore, they often mate and nest and attain their brightest yellow-black in August and September; only to begin loosing their beauty and turning back to a drab olive in November.
