This weekend, I watched a female Baltimore Oriole work for 30 minutes; weaving, tying knots, moving at all angles, and even winding herself gymnastically around a stationary tie point. Given a week of hard work she will create a hanging basket 12″ long with a middle side opening (this is one of one hundred fifty photos taken of her activity). The egg laying will begin immediately after the finishes. Amazing to me, is the fact that I was un-noticed because she was so focused on her work. Taken from 25-30′ with a Canon 50D and a 400 f/5.6 Canon lens last Saturday:
