Its cool this morning, about 40F (not bad for December) but cold and snow will be setting in this week. Highs will barely reach freezing after Tuesday. This is good. We need some real cold weather this winter. This morning early a female Downey Woodpecker was working the bark of a sassafras tree in the side yard. Got this photo with a Canon 7D and a 600mm f/4.0 lens at f/5.6; she was born last spring:
