They nest here in the Boston Mountains; but, only where there are large valley fields surrounded by trees. There must be lots of fence to sit on and hunt from. I found a pre-gathering for migration group of about 12-20 today and got some photos. The males have a very long tail and the female’s is shorter. They are fairly common in western and north-west Arkansas; absent from the rest of the State. They are the state bird of Oklahoma. They are really beautiful with the gray, white, black, and salmon and tangerine coloration. A true species of the southern plains of the US:
