Interesting weather here !  4 Severe Thunderstorm Watches;  2 Tornado Watches,  4 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings,  1 Tornado Warning,  8 Flash Flood Watches,  6 Flash Flood Warnings in 48 hours. Things here are pretty water logged.

The upper East Fork of the Little Buffalo above Murray should be quite a sight today.

By the way, my personal Weather station has been down met of May due to a network problem; working on it now. Hopefully it will be back in a week or so.

Two young Bald Eagles swept in over the Little Buffalo this morning before the sun came out (they may be 2-5 years old); pictures are of gliding, landing, and balancing, then later the two (male and female together). The male is the smaller bird. Taken with a Canon 7D and a Canon EF 300L IS 2.8 Lens with a Canon 1.4X TC:

Had a thunderstorm at 4 AM (1/3 inch of rain) but the lightning knocked out my power until 7 AM. The colors are quite pretty up north near the Missouri border, and down south in the Ouachita range but this sandstone on the Buffalo and Little Buffalo Boston Mountain peaks just does not make as stunning colors; as further north and south many years. We had a very wet summer and no hard freezes yet; but close. Many trees are still green but look to be turning brown and dry. I am not expecting much more color this year (just Maples) – HERE. Instead today I drove to some River access points and took a few reflections photos there (all 3 shot HDRs):

We have had lots of rain this July; nearly 8 inches, That has kept the Little Buffalo floatable all July, even in its mid-section. Smallmouth Bass are plentiful and Sunfish are still spawning; there are plenty of aquatic insects hatching early and late. All the fish seem interesting in the larger Mayflies. The river is alive !

We got a solid 5.27 inches of rain in 90 minutes yesterday. I got exactly 0.75 during the first and most severe storm; including 1″ hail. Then a lightening struck took down my DAVIS INSTRUMENTS weather station for about 3 hours at 4:42 PM. I had the restart and reset the day to 0.00 inches of rain at 4:42PM and then re-started and began re-tallying the rain and got an additional 4.52 inches. (4.52 + .76 =5.27).

Needless to say, the creeks and rivers are very high and may still be coming up. In places, the roads are nearly impassable due to large boulders washing across.

Here are a few poor photos of my trip up to Jasper this morning:
