I did not see many Scarlet Tanagers during this year’s nesting season. I did hear several singing. This past week, I have seen several. One adult male last Thursday and one juvenile male during the rain storms last weekend. I got pretty good photo of each. They are one of our states most beautiful birds:

No severe weather in Newton County, so far. I beleive the potential for heavy weather has passed. We reccieved 0.80 inches of rain starting at 7 AM this morning. It is now 9:15 AM. The heaviest weather, including, a few tornados was NW of here about 40 miles during the night. There is still a 40% to 70% chance for more rain and storms today:
